14. Isaac Meek was born about 1785 in Pennsylvania according to the 1880 census. He paid taxes in 1804 in Henry Co., KY. He is listed in 1810 census Henry Co., KY. He moved to Indiana about 1812, later to Illinois where his wife died, He returned to Fountain Co., IN, where he married his second wife, then moved to Woodford Co., IL before 1832. He was listed in the 1840 census of Warren Co., IN. He was listed in the 1850 census of Shawney TWP, Fountain Co., IN living with his son, Joseph.

He married Sarah Perkins on 17 Mar 1810 in Henry Co., KY. She died in Illinois. Isaac Meek and Sarah Perkins had the following children:

41. John Meek was born about 1811 in Kentucky. He died 23 Feb 1855 and is buried at Gopher Hill Cemetery, Warren Co., IN. He married Matilda Messick 4 Aug 1840 in Warren Co., IN according to marriage records. She was born about 1824 in Ohio. She married (2) Calvin Wolf and moved to Jasper Co., IA then Dallas Co., IA. John and Matilda Meek were listed in the 1850 census of Shawney TWP, Fountain Co., IN. Living with them was Armstrong G. Meek age 19 who who was a brother.

- 144. Franklin Meek was born about 1849 in Shawnee TWP, Fountain Co., IN. He was listed with his parents in the 1850 census. He died in May 1878 in Cedar Rapids, IA.

  as he stood next to a flatcar of rails, near Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  in May 1878, three months before his son was born.

Harvey 21 Aug 1879 in Chicago, IL. She was born 4 Mar 1857 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA. She died 08 Oct 1929 in Escanaba, Delta Co., MI. Her parents were Patrick Donnelly and Winifred Duffie.

49. Armstrong G. Meek was born about 1831 in Indiana. 27 May 1907 and is buried at Songer Cemetery Tilton, IL. He married Polly Ames 17 Jul 1859 in Warren Co., IN. She was born 3 Dec 1835 according to her death certificate. She died 17 July 1923 in Vermilion Co., IL. Her mother's name was Mary Ames. He is listed with his brother, John, in the 1850 census of Shawnee TWP, Fountain Co., IN. In 1860 Armstrong and Polly are listed in the 1860 census of Mound TWP, Warren Co., IN. Living with them was Polly Huntsman age 56. They are listed in the 1870 census of Danville, Vermilion Co., IL. They are listed in the 1880 census of Danville, Vermilion Co., IL. They are listed in the 1900 census of Danville, Vermilion Co., IL living with William and Ellen Melton. He was listed as a father-in-law. Ellen was born Nov 1867 in Indiana. This may be the daughter Polly born about 1868.
Note:Y-DNA from a descendant shows Armstrong is related to Group A and Jacob Meek born 1755.

Isaac Meek, deceased, was a native of Kentucky and a son of Jacob and Nancy (Warcins) Meek, who removed from Maryland to Kentucky and thence, in 1805 or 1806, to Wayne County, Ind., and settled in Wayne Township a mile south of Richmond, and subsequently moved to Boston Township, where the father died in 1843 and the mother several years later. There was a family of eight children---John, Martha, Effie, Ruah, William, Isaac, Jeremiah and Joshua. The latter died prior to the removal of the family from Kentucky. Isaac Meeks was reared in Kentucky and was married there to Mary Perkins. They accompanied his parents to Indiana, and some years later removed to Illinois, where the wife died. They had a family of eight children---John, Joseph, William, Allen, Alfred, Nancy P., Ellinor and Mary J. Nancy P., now Mrs. Nathan Druley, is the only one living. After the death of his wife Mr. Meek returned to Indiana and settled in Fountain County, where he died. He married Mary (Grimes) Davidson, by whom he had one child---Armstrong.

Note 2:
Joseph S. Meek listed in the 1850 census of Shawnee TWP, Fountain Co., IN was age 36. He had a wife Lidia age 32, son Alonzo age 3, daughter Jane age 1/12 and other older children. Also listed was Isaac Meek age 65 PA who is presumed to be his father.

Joseph S. Meek applied for a marriage license for Elizabeth Jane Huston in Vermilion Co., IL on 5 Oct 1851.

Joseph Meek listed in the 1860 census of Mound TPW., Warren Co., IN was age 40. His wife was Elizabeth age 26. Also listed is son Alonzo age 12. Daughter Jane is not listed. Also listed are two daughters Malissa age 7 and Colista age 6.

Despite the different ages reported in the census it is noted that both men had the occupation of show maker. In addition both locations are in close proximity to each other as well as Vermilion Co., IL.

A marriage license was issued in Vermillion Co., IL on 8 Dec 1875 for Mellissa J. Meek and John O. Moore. The application was made by Armstrong Meek, a half brother of Joseph S. Meek.

It is believed that Joseph S. Meek in the 1850 census is the same person as Joseph Meek in the 1860 census.
