2. John Meek was born in 1751. He is listed in the 1781 and 1783 tax list for Bethlehem TWP. He is listed in the 1790 census with one female. He recieved a grant for land on the North fork of Ten Mile Creek in West Bethlehem TWP named Black Oak Flat bounded by John Meek Jr and William Meek. The warrant was dated 01/27/1785. The patent was dated 17 Mar 1788. Deed records continue through 1806 and mention his wife, Mary. He also purchased land named Mt. Pleasant in 1790. He is reported in the 1800 census for West Bethlehem TWP, Washington Co., PA. He doed not appear in deed records after 1806.

  • A. John Meek was born before 1775. He resided in Pittsburgh in 1820. The census reports one female age 26-45, one male under 10 and 3 females under 10. Washington County deed records establish the existence of a younger John Meek but his connection to John born 1751 is not established. He resided next to John Meek Senior and is mentioned in his deed records. He is listed in the 1800 census of West Bethlehem TWP, Washington Co., PA age 16-26. He had one son and one daughter under the age of 10. He is not in the 1810 census. Based on his will, John Jr. had connections to both Greene Co., OH and Philadelphia. He may have had two wives. His will was dated 14 Nov 1826 in Allegheny Co., PA. The will mentions his wife and children. He married Elizabeth _______.
    • 1. Robert Meek was born before 1805. He receives 50 acres in Greene Co., OH from fathers will.
    • 2. Sarah Meek was born between 1810 and 1820.
    • 3. Eliza Meek was born between 1810 and 1820.
    • 4. John Meek was born between 1810 and 1820. He was under 21 in 1826.
    • 7. Emily Meek was born between 1810 and 1820. She was under 18 in 1826. (lots not subject to mother's dower) Not to dispose of until she reachers age of 18.
      Note: Will mentions unnamed daughter-To daughter now residing in Philadelphia, daughter of Elizabeth Neathwood $100. When she arrives at a. 18.
  • B. William Meek was born between 1774 and 1884 according to the 1800 census of West Bethlehem TWP, Washington Co., PA. A deed record dated 19 Nov 1806 refers to him as the son of John Meek and gives his wife's name as Cassy. He sells land 1804 that was originally part of father grant and resided next to his father. He may be man in either the 1810 of Washington County or Greene County. He is distinguished from other men named William by his age and the name of his wife.
    • 1. Female Meek was born between 1790-1800 according to the 1800 census.
