He is listed in the 1860-1880 census of Jackson TWP, Ripley Co., IN. He moved to Grundy Co., MO in 1884. The 1880 census indicated that both his parents were born in Pennsylvania. Living next to him in 1860 was John Vest Meek age 39, Eliza Meek age 30 and Alonzo Meek age 1.

I have a scrap book that Aunt Ella Lowe (Ed: Sarah Ella Meek, Jeremiah & Elizabeth's daughter) and Aunt Susie Currin (Ed: daughter of Mildred Meek Adkinson) had pasted clippings in. (Ed: She went on to give some Adkinson genealogy, which has turned out to be accurate when compared to census & other records.) (Ed: Virginia Witten then continues with several pages of Meek info.) Jeremiah Meek was born in Jennings, County, Indiana. He married Elizabeth C Vest in 1839. They had 11 children, 5 girls and 6 boys, At the time of his death 4 daughters and 2 sons were still living. The family lived in Ripley County, Indiana for 45 years and moved to Grundy County, Missouri in 1887. Jeremiah & Elizabeth lived on a farm 7 miles northwest of Galt. On November 25 (1893) he came to Trenton to visit his son and family (Ed: actually, his son-in-law, Henry Harrison Meek). He died there and was buried in the Galt Cemetery.

2. Lucy Jane Meek was born on 27 Jan 1840 in Indiana. She died on 23 Nov 1901 in Carroll Co., MO. She married (1) William H. Brunt on 14 Oct 1855 in Indiana. He was born about 1838 in Ripley Co., IN. He died on 16 Dec 1864 near Nashville, TN while serving in the Civil War.

He was listed in the 1860 census of Grundy Co., MO with George O. Meek, age 22. He was listed in the 1870 census of Grundy Co., MO with Lucy and her children by William Brunt. He was listed in the 1880 census of Grundy Co., MO.
