1. George Owen Meek was born about 1820 in Indiana. He married Susan Lomax. She was born 1821 Blount Co., TN. She died 1878 in Newton Co., MO. He is listed in the 1850 census of Pike Co., IL with David Meek, age 30. They were listed in the 1860 census of Grundy Co., MO. Living with them was Harrison Meek age 22. He married a daughter of Jeremiah V. Meek. They were listed in the 1870 census of Christian Co., MO.

DNA Implications: A descendant of George Meek had his Y-DNA tested and matches Group B in the Meek DNA Project. Group B includes ancestors who lived in Washington Co., PA in the late 1700’s. The SNP marker is R-L11. DNA does not reveal who his ancestor was but he was definitely related to the men in this group.
