3. Jeremiah Meek was born between 1771 and 1780. He resided in Carroll Co., AR as early as 1832. He was probably the person named Jeremiah Meek in the 1831 and 1833 tax list of Izard Co., AR. He was probably the person named Jeremiah Meek in the 1834 and 1837 tax list of Carroll County. He was probably the person age 60-70 listed with John Meek in the 1840 census of White Township, Carroll Co., AR. (Later Newton County.) (Note: Carroll County was formed in 1833 from Izard County. Newton County was formed in 1842 from Carroll County.)
He married Elizabeth Blevins on 8 Feb 1802 in Blount Co., TN, according to marriage records. She was born about 1780. Jeremiah Meek and Elizabeth Blevins had the following children:

1. Alexander killed Lewis and Richard Meek, brothers of Eliza Meek, his
brother-in-law,at Meek's Mill on Richland Creek,Newton County,Arkansas ca
1878, Alexander was also the brother-in-law of James Cagle who had married
Eliza Meek. A jury found Alezander innocent because it was self defense. The
best known information is that Alexander was grinding corn into cornmeal at
the mill and the two Meek brothers rode up to the mill on their
horse, drunk, hollering Indian was whoops and threatening to shoot
Alexander {they were part Cherokee Indian}. Richard's wife, Susan Cagle, had
told him not to do what he did because Alexander was a sharp-shooter in the
War of the Rebellion {Civil War} when he got the nickname "Coon" as a night
fighter, being able to shoot with accuracy in the dark. Alexander came put of
the mill to talk to them with a shoulder hoslstered gun. Richard drew his gun
but Alexander shot him first-threw the heart. Lewis was wounded as he ran and
died later at his home. Alexander's brother, Martin, was also tried and
acquitted for the killing although Alexander was the shooter. Alexander and
his wife, Rhoda Jane Meek, removed from Newton County to Pope County, Arkansas
after the trial. His brother,Martin, removed from Newton County, to the
Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory{Oklahoma},
