He married Julia A. ____ in Virginia based their first child being born there. She was born about 1819 in Augusta Co., VA. They were listed in the 1840 census of Carroll Co., IN. They were listed in the 1850 census of Howard Co., IN. They were listed in the 1860 and 1870 censuses of Cass Co., IN. Prior to 1850 they lived in Howard Co., IN.

Note: Traditional genealogies say that his father was Thomas Meek born 1785 and Catherine Phillips. However, the name given in those genealogies is Enos T. Meek. DNA for a descendant of Thomas E. Meek matches that of one other person in the extended family that included Thomas Meek born 1785 in Augusta Co., VA. This is not proof that Thomas E. Meek was a son of Thomas Meek and Catherine Phillips. The fact that the 1870 census says that Thomas E. Meek was born in Augusta Co., VA and the DNA makes the possibility more likely than no evidence at all.
