Genealogies generally available today are also without sources, inaccurate and combine information on two different men named Robert Meek. Reference to his military services is probably correct but needs to be verified.
He is probably the person listed in the 1783 tax list of Washington Co., PA. Robert Meek received a land grant in Washington Co., PA known as "The Kirk" on 16 Mar 1790. The warrant was dated 13 Nov 1786. This is a Pennsylvania grant. He may have owned the land much earlier through a Virginia grant. He sold this land 24 Jun 1791 to George Wallace. His wife Elizabeth was mentioned. He was referred to as "of Ohio Co., VA. He is believed to have lived in Brooks Co., VA which was formed from Ohio County.
He married Elizabeth Alexander. The source for this information is unknown. Robert Meek and Elizabeth Alexander had the following children according to undocumented genealogies. There is no evidence, known to this author, concerning any of his children.
UPDATE: DNA from a descendant of son, William, indicate that he was related to several early American ancestors including Adam Meek born about 1725 who resided in Cecil Co., MD, Joseph Meek born 1744 who resided in Washington Co., VA, James Meek born 1777 Ireland as well as a more distant group including John Alexander Meek born 1686 whose family immigrated to Laurens District, SC and Moses Meek born 1755 who lived in Mecklenburg, NC. How closely he was related to any one of these ancestors cannot be determined without more data from additional people being tested. He was positively NOT related to other Meek families living at Washington Co., PA or Ohio C., VA based on DNA from descendants of each.
